Ontario researchers may soon begin trials to determine if dandelion root tea can help combat cancer, according to news sources.
The decision came after promising lab tests that showed dandelion root extract to kill harmful leukemia cells without any damage to healthy cells. There has also been much anecdotal evidence about dandelion tea’s effectiveness for cancer patients whose regular treatment stopped working.
The best-case outcome is a natural, nontoxic method of treatment for leukemia with few or even no side effects. Other forms of cancer will be studied as well, including pancreatic cancer and melanoma. At the moment, methods of treatment such as chemotherapy do not differentiate between cancer cells and healthy cells, causing immense stress on the body.
It will be quite some time until the trials are conducted and results are in; however, researchers are cautiously optimistic.
Always consult a health care practitioner for advice before trying a new supplement such as dandelion tea.
