6 Qs with MyFitnessPal’s Justin Moss

Justin Moss, a San Francisco native, has been working at MyFitnessPal as a Level II Customer Happiness Agent for a little over a year now. After working in retail, Justin wanted a change—he wanted to work for a company that was making a difference in the world—an opportunity he found at MyFitnessPal. As a Customer Happiness Agent, Justin hears what our users are saying about the app, so we figured it would be great to get an insider’s peek into Justin’s life at MyFitnessPal.

Justin, thanks so much for letting us interview you! We’ll start off easy. What’s your favorite workout or exercise activity? And do you use the MyFitnessPal app to track your own fitness? I’d have to say my favorite exercise is going to the gym and hopping on an elliptical machine, though I do also enjoy snowboarding when I have the time. And, yes, I do use the MyFitnessPal app. In fact, I’ve been religiously using it for about 11 months and I’ve lost 49 lbs.!

Justin, that’s awesome! We’re so glad to hear you’re getting results! So when it comes to working at MyFitnessPal, what sets us apart from other companies? We have a great team, a flexible schedule, and we get to actually make a difference in people’s lives. Plus, you can see that people care from top to bottom, so it’s nice to be able to talk to anyone, share your ideas, and get them implemented.

And what are your goals for our company? I’d like MyFitnessPal to become the master platform for health and fitness, and then eventually move into medicine and anything that has to do with health. Of course while also maintaining our mission to better educate the world on good eating habits and to empower them to do it themselves.

And do you have any health tips or tricks you’d like to share? I always say that when you buy food, at either the grocery or a restaurant, you should always buy the smaller portion. For instance, let’s say you visit Chipotle and you’re craving their chips. Well instead of ordering a full-sized bag of chips, opt for the kids-sized bag.

Well, since you’ve lead us to food, what is your favorite food? Ribs. Pork baby back ribs.

OK, last questions: what do people usually say when you tell them you work at MyFitnessPal? Either, “I love that app,” or they take out their phone and say, “Oh, I have that app.”

Justin’s not the only one with insight on life at MyFitnessPal. Stay tuned for future interviews with staffers and let us know what you’d like to learn next about our workplace!
